Crap, I'm late to the party!
Yes, I knew I should have been there yesterday, but I was otherwise occupied. It was a perfect parenting storm: one son was preparing his display board for State History Day, the other was getting ready for the prom. Between requests for cash advances, accurate cutting of foam core, shirt ironing, help with photomounting and corsage courier services, there was no time to party.
The upside was that the fumes from the rubber cement seem to have mellowed my nerves. I started the day with a huge knot in my neck arguing with my son about the importance of right angles. After an afternoon of unintended inhalant abuse, we were a happier family. Proof that working hard on school projects can be fun—but also hazardous to your health.
ANYWAY, back to pajamas.
I have been wanting to incorporate some crochet lace I have collected into a T-Shirt for a long time and I thought that this swinging T-shirt from Dixie DIY would be a great way to try out the idea. I think that the knit I chose, however, is a bit too clingy for this style, and then there were some constuction problems, but it' still a perfect pyjama top.
To go with it I made pajama bottoms from a very washed and tattered cotton/rayon tablecloth. I put the slinky side out for a lower coefficient of drag with the bed covers while I get the soft cottony goodness on the inside. So that the two sides would be mirror images, I had to place them on the fabric just so, thus the length is a sort of gauchoesque.
What's that blinking red light??
My current book is Female Chavinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture by Ariel Levy. Also on my nightstand is Over the edge of the World: Magellen's terrifying Circumnavigation of the World. I highly recommend them both.
Hope you all had a nice sleep in cosy pajamas.
